Doce Fuegos surge en 2017 dentro del ámbito más arcano
y experimental del rock y el metal de Sevilla, donde militan
bandas como Pylar y Orthodox. Su único componente y

fundador, Miguel Palou, lleva a cabo una exploración elec-
troacústica del acto mágico de la creación mediante la im-
provisación, sirviéndose para ello del violín , la mandolina

y la percusión. De este modo, reproduce un paisaje sonoro

dinámico, un viaje sensitivo al encuentro entre la concien-
cia y la esencia del relato.

El sonido de Doce Fuegos se asienta en los pilares del drone
(SunnO))), Earth), el dark wave (Dead Can Dance, Current
93) y la experimentación noise neoyorquina (Sonic Youth,
Glenn Branca, Swans). Además, encuentra inspiración en
la psicodelia rock-folk (Comus, Velvet Underground), el
post-rock (Godspeed you! Black Emperor, Warren Ellis), el
black metal atmosférico (Burzum, WITTR), el minimalismo,
el impresionismo, así como la música antigua y étnica.
El templo de las cuevas es la grabación realizada en la
capilla del monasterio de Santa María de las Cuevas, a
las afueras de Sevilla (Isla de la Cartuja). Entre sus muros
se quiso generar un nuevo espacio de sacralidad erigido a
partir del sonido; un relato cosmogónico a modo de retablo
sonoro. El resultado es un disco repleto de matices y de
una gran riqueza tímbrica, de sonido épicos y pasajes de
gran intimismo, envuelto en la impresionante acústica de
la capilla, que sale por fin a la luz de la mano de Sentencia
Records.

DOCE FUEGOS emerges in 2017 from the most obscure
and experimental sphere in the rock and metal scene of
Seville, along like-minded bands like Pylar and Orthodox.
The band’s single member, Miguel Palou, carries out
an electroacoustic exploration of the magical act of
creation through improvisation, using violin, mandolin,
and percussion. Thereby, he reproduces a dynamic sonic
landscape that can suggest a sensitive journey deep into
tales and narrative.
The inspiration for DOCE FUEGOS’s sound is woven from
a variety of sources: SunnO))) and Earth’s drone; the dark
wave of Dead Can Dance and Current 93; and the sonic
experimentation of New York’s noise scene, such as Sonic
Youth and Swans. But dig further, and one can hear echoes
of folk-rock psychedelia (Comus/Velvet Underground), the
post-rock invention of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and
Warren Ellis, and the atmospheric black metal of Burzum
and WITTR, along minimalism, impressionism, early and
ethnic music.
El Templo de las Cuevas (The Caves Temple) was recorded
in a chapel within La Cartuja monastery on the periphery
of Seville: it was the band’s intention to create a sonic
cosmogonical altar-piece from the sacred echoes of the
walls. The result is a record filled with nuances, rich in tone,
whose epic sound soars through intimate soundscapes,
utilising the distinct acoustics provided by the chapel,
which is finally released by Sentencia Records.
